The Owen County Democratic Party will hold their annual Hog Roast and benefit auction at the Owen County Fairgrounds here in Spencer on Sunday, October 18th. The meal is FREE and everyone is welcome. There will be a social time from 11:30am until the start of the meal at 12:30pm. The event is made possible by Clerk Harley Melton and Judge Frank Nardi, who are donating the hog prepared by Fender's 4-Star Meats, and by the Owen County Democrat Club. Salad, rolls, drinks, desserts, and side items will also be served by Lois Bixler.
The annual event will feature an auction of all sorts of great items. Some things from auctions in the past have been decorative items, household items, fudge, pies, cakes, Indiana flags, lawn items, and even eight tons of gravel or fill. Anyone interested in donating auction items may contact Tami & Bill Snodgrass at 828-5011. All proceeds from the auction go to support the Owen County Democratic Party. A 50/50 drawing is also planned.
Current county elected officials and State Representative Vern Tincher also plan attend. Anyone wanting further information on the entire event may contact Chairman Anton Karl Neff at 829-4254. Neff notes, “Our Hog Roast is an event that many people look forward to every year—not only because it is a free event open to everyone--but also because is provides a great opportunity to see many friends, neighbors and meet new people. Everyone is welcome to join us and take part in good food and good fun. Please join us--we hope to see you there.”
