The Owen County Democrats are sponsoring a Patriot Day Fish Fry to be held Sunday, September 11th from Noon until 2:00pm, at the Owen County Fairgrounds. Once again, seafood products from Icelandic prepared in many ways will be served. A selection of seafood like baked Cod, Crab Cakes, Dixie Crunch Cod, Country Fried English style Battered Cod, Brewer’s Choice Cod, French Bread Crumb Pollock Strips, and Biscuit Battered Catfish will be offered. The dinner will also include side items, dessert, and drinks. All tickets are $6.00 per person and are available from any Democrat precinct, party, or elected official or by calling 829-4254. Last year’s fish fry was a great success and everyone is invited to be a part of this important event. For those who are unable to stay for lunch, pickup orders for take out are available for folks on their way home from church or for those who are passing through. Frozen Icelandic© products will also be available for sale toward the end of the event. Twenty percent of the net proceeds of the event will be donated for the purchase of prepaid telephone cards for our servicemen and servicewomen overseas. The American Legion Post 1405 will help manage this donation and will also give a special presentation during this event. Chairman Anton Karl Neff noted, “We look forward to hosting a Patriot Day Fish Fry for everyone this year. There are no speakers or official program planned—this is an opportunity to have a great meal at a reasonable price that also helps support the men and women of our armed forces. This is also a day of reflection for our country. We hope to see you there.”
