Filing for public office officially opened this morning with the Owen County Clerk. The filing deadline is Noon, Friday, February the 17th. There are many offices up for election this year locally including: Assessor, Clerk, Commissioner District 2, Coroner, 4 Council Districts, Judge, Prosecutor, Recorder, Sheriff, Surveyor, and Treasurer. All township trustees and each of the three board positions in each township are up. In addition, the party's precinct committeeperson spots are up in each of our 19 precincts. A list of candidates who have filed or announced intentions to run is updated regularly on this website under "Election 2006". If anyone is interested in running for any of these offices, please contact Chairman Anton Neff. The County Clerk can be reached at 829-5028. Linda Roy is the election administrator and has been doing a great job to help everyone. |
