This year's Patriot Day Fish Fry, sponsored by the Owen County Democrats, exceeded expectations. Our head count was 101, a 55% increase over last year! People came to join us for a fantastic choice of seafood from Icelandic made possible by the generosity of Dave and Marilyn Hercamp. This is the second year they have helped us on the fish fry and if you add up all of the time and effort they have put into this project, they have made a great contribution to our party.

We appreciate our committee, JoAnn Ligon, Joan Fowler, and
Debbie Foutch, for coordinating everything from decorations to
food side items to setup, and much more! We appreciate their
time and effort preparing food and helping during the event.

Lois Bixler helped us with supplies, desserts, rolls, and
serving. Her help in the kitchen and serving and picking up
supplies for us is very much appreciated.

We had several helpers who did setup, served, cleaned, and
contributed to a smooth kitchen operation besides the committee,
Lois, and the Hercamps. Those people include Donna Kepner,
Pansy White, Paul Fowler, Rich Foutch, Evelyn Price, Shannon
Neff, Frank and Brenda Nardi. Those who were around toward the
end of the event helped with clean-up and it took no time at
all! It is quite possible that we may have missed someone here,
so please let us know ASAP if we did.

We appreciate the time Fred Drescher donated and his
design/printing expertise to line us up on our tickets. We
appreciate everyone who sold tickets in advance of the event.
Cindy Hyde distributed tickets and David Gohn is collecting the
ticket sale money. If you have money to turn in, please contact
him at 876-1575 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Melick Florist gave us a major break on the price of balloons
for the decorations.

We appreciate the Spencer Lion's Club lending the deep fryers
for us to use and we appreciate the Owen County Fair Association
for allowing us to use the facilities.

We thank everyone who came to join us. We had a good mix of
veteran members and new faces. We had received several calls to
reserve tickets from folks we have not seen or met before.

Now, the bottom line. About $300 will be donated to two causes: Hurricane Katrina relief efforts and the purchase of items for our servicemen and servicewomen overseas. We had a 50/50 drawing and the winner of the 50/50 drawing was Linda Tincher.

Photos are posted on our website--please take a look!

Thank you all again for your support and contributions to our party. If you could not make it or were not able to help with
this project this year, you are certainly invited to participate
next year!
