With a little sampling of warm weather this past weekend, it is hard to believe it is November and the Election has come and gone already. Voters have now participated in the only poll that counts in an election that saw a host of different races--from County Council all the way to President. In Owen County, we did not currently hold any of the 6 local seats up for election this year. We had hoped to pick up a couple of them, but were unsuccessful. Local Democrats did pick up the State Representative seat for District 46, to be held by Vern Tincher. Senator Evan Bayh also won our county easily in his re-election bid. All of the media attention and discussion at the National level certainly brought people from both parties, and undecideds, out and vote—Owen County’s voter turnout was outstanding! We thank all of those who participated in this important election. As we eagerly await the 2006 election, we hope that voter interest will remain high and we look forward to many more elections to come.
