Jack Simmerman is a newly appointed member to the Spencer Town Board. He is to assume the duties and complete the remainder of the term for the position which became vacant when Dean Bruce had resigned due to him taking an out of state job opportunity. ”Dean’s service to the Town of Spencer and our community will be missed. He gave the job his best effort,” Neff noted.
With a vacancy to fill, the Democrats held a caucus on October 5th to select a new board member. Those interested in the vacant position were required to give a 72 hour notice to the Party Chairman. The candidates who gave notice were Rex St. John and Jack Simmerman. All Washington Township precinct committee members met and gave a majority of the vote to Simmerman.
Neff noted, “Jack is a community person. His service as a teacher, a former Town Board member, and his work with various other community projects, make him an outstanding member of our community. We welcome him to the Spencer Town Board position and wish him the best.” Neff continued, “Our hat goes off to Rex St. John for continuing to have a genuine interest in our community.” St. John will continue to be one of three Democrat County Council At-Large candidates to be considered in this year’s General Election. |
