Marvin Newland Joins 2004 Democrat Ticket |

The Owen County Democratic Party announces that Marvin Newland has been selected to fill a ballot vacancy for one of the three County Council At-Large seats up in this year's election. A Precinct Committee caucus was held at 7:00pm, Wednesday, July 21st at Democrat Headquarters. Newland replaces Andy Cradick who withdrew from the race after taking a job that required his residence be in Monroe County. Marvin Newland and his wife, Susan, have made their home north of Spencer for 13 years. He is retired after 30 years with General Motors. He was a very active union leader in the UAW. He is a member of the American Legion, York Rite, Scottish Rite, Shriners, and Masonic Lodge. At the caucus, Newland stated that he encourages everyone to be involved in the election process. He is excited and proud to represent the Democrat party as a candidate and appreciates everyone's consideration. Democrat Party Chairman Anton Neff commented, "We are pleased to have Marvin on our ticket. He has been very active with our party and always has a positive outlook on things". |
