Effective Monday, June 28th, Gosport's newest member of the Town Board is long-time Gosport resident and businessman, Joseph King. On May 31, 2004, Gosport Town Board member Bill Arnold resigned from his position citing personal reasons. Indiana Code 3-13-11-5(c) required that the applicable County Chairman shall fill the vacancy no later than 30 days after the vacancy occurs. A search was conducted and three people were considered for the position. The decision to choose Mr. King was based on his community and business background. He will work well with the rest of the Gosport Town Board and the Clerk/Treasurer. More detailed information about Mr. King's background was highlighted in the Tuesday edition of the Spencer Evening World newspaper.
