Over 100 were in attendance at the Owen County Fairgrounds to hear State Senator Vi Simpson speak. Vi is a candidate for Governor in 2004. Many guests, elected officials, and party supporters were in attendance. The dinner was catered by the Owen Valley Band Boosters and door prizes were donated by several officials and supporters. The beautiful patriotic centerpiece was donated by Hammond's Florist.

Starting the program was a special recognition by Judge Frank Nardi for Suzanne Sturgeon, outgoing court referee, whom many have had the pleasure of working with during her work here locally. She was presented with an array of gifts and a plaque for her outstanding service. Another special recognition was delivered by Chairman Anton K Neff for Brian Hughes, the mastermind behind this website's design. A candidate for 8th District Congress, Kevin Derr, visited and spoke of his vision for our district.

Introducing Senator Simpson was former State Representative, Vern Tincher, who has worked with Vi closely on many issues. Vi has been traveling the state aggressively with well over a year left before the Primary Election in 2004. She spoke of her Hoosier roots and values. She spoke of the high standard one most have for a candidate who knows state government inside and out. She has 20 years of experience as a Senator. She currently serves as Chairman of the State Budget Committee and serves as a ranking minority member of the Economic Development and Technology and Finance Committees.

We would like to thank all who participated in organizing the event and all of the support we have received.
